#InOurVeils – Victoria

For Victoria and her partner Doug, It was essential that they married In Victoria’s native Wales with the stunning Fonmon Castle as their venue. The day saw a pink and pastel colour theme with a vintage feel and we think it looks absolutely stunning, and the perfect example for brides-to-be.

How did you and your partner meet?

We met a week before Christmas 6 years ago in a pub local to both of us…we hadn’t seen each other before!

Tell us all about your proposal – where, when and how?

We had talked about getting engaged but on the day I had no idea Doug was about to propose! Doug had planned to propose on Richmond Bridge but it didn’t quite go to plan! It was fairly early in the evening and he was trying to rush me to get ready, I didn’t really understand why he was being so insistent but his excitement finally got the better of him and he proposed at home.

He took a can out of the fridge, came into the living room with the ring hidden on his little finger and said ‘Can you help me with this ring pull’ I then saw the ring and started to laugh in shock, he then bent down on one knee an asked if I would marry him to which I replied yes! He proposed with a ‘fake’ ring so that I could choose my own.

When and where did you get married?

We got married in Fonmon Castle in my homeland of South Wales in March 2018. As we live in London and being a patriotic Welsh woman it was very important to me that we get married in Wales and it was the most perfect day in our fairy-tale castle!

Did you have a specific theme or colour scheme?

We chose a pink and pastel colour scheme, pink being my favourite colour! We both wanted our wedding to be classic and elegantly styled with a vintage feel and I love bows so they also featured quite heavily!

How did you feel when you said yes to the dress?

When I finally found my dress I felt emotional and also relieved as months of searching and trying on dresses had come together (although I loved the process of searching and trying dresses!) I had a vision of what I wanted my dress to be like from the beginning and lots were very close but when I found the one I just knew and after a few tweaks and adding a big bow it was perfect!

How did you choose your veil?

I came across Joyce Jackson before I had chosen my dress and loved the fact they were a Welsh company, I also loved how you could customise any veil to make it bespoke to you and found it very hard to find a company that could match or compete with the craftsmanship and beautiful designs. I was set on having a Joyce Jackson veil and after finding my dress in London it became even more important that I used a Welsh company to make my veil.

I chose a classic strapless satin ball gown dress with a bow detail and as my dress did not have any beading or embellishments I knew I could be a bit more adventurous with my veil. I fell in love with the stunning Italian tulle Dawn veil, a beautiful cathedral length veil with beaded flower detailing, I chose to extend the length to cover my dresses train and add an extra layer blusher veil making it completely bespoke to me.

Where did you buy your Joyce Jackson veil from?

Online company Pink Daisy Bridal, the owner Tim was so informative and friendly and offered advice on materials, colours and lengths.

What was your most favourite and memorable part of the day?

It was the most perfect day and we loved every minute, apart from marrying my husband and spending time with all our family and friends , I loved the moments leading up to walking down the aisle seeing my dress and veil hanging up and getting ready, then finally pushing my veil comb into my hair transformed me into a bride!

Do you have any advice for brides to be?

If you really have your heart set on a certain detail go for it….your memories and photos will last forever! Also I would recommend you and your newlywed stay side by side throughout the day and night so that you experience everything together and finally enjoy all of your hard work!
